Movers Docklands Service Terms and Conditions

Movers Docklands service terms document introductionThese Service Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Movers Docklands provides removal, packing, loading, unloading, transport, and related moving services in the UK. By making a booking, the customer agrees to these terms, which are designed to create a clear, fair, and practical agreement between the parties. For the avoidance of doubt, references to we, us, and our mean Movers Docklands, and references to you and your mean the customer requesting the service. These terms apply whether the move is domestic or commercial, and whether the service is booked as a one-off job or as part of a larger relocation arrangement.

Nothing in these terms is intended to override mandatory consumer rights or other statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded. If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the fullest extent permitted by law. Please read these terms carefully before confirming any booking, as they explain the responsibilities of both parties and the limits of our liability.

These terms apply to the service as quoted and accepted at the time of booking. Any changes to the scope of work, access conditions, inventory, dates, or timing may affect the price, availability, and service plan. Approval of a booking confirms that you have reviewed the details provided and agree to comply with the requirements set out below.

1. Booking Process

Booking and quotation details for removals serviceA booking with Movers Docklands is formed when we confirm a requested service and you accept the quotation, estimate, or written schedule provided. Any quote is based on the information supplied by you, including the size of the property or premises, the number and type of items, access arrangements, parking conditions, and any special handling needs. If the information later proves inaccurate or incomplete, we may revise the quotation or the booking arrangements to reflect the actual service required.

You are responsible for ensuring that all booking information is accurate and up to date. This includes notice of fragile items, heavy items, dismantling or reassembly requirements, storage needs, or items that require specialist lifting or extra manpower. Movers Docklands removals are planned on the basis of the description you provide, so material changes may result in revised timings, additional charges, or limited service availability on the day.

We will use reasonable efforts to provide a scheduled time window, but all timings are estimates unless expressly confirmed as fixed. Traffic, weather, access delays, building restrictions, and other factors outside our control may affect arrival or completion times. Where a booking involves multiple stages, the sequence of work may be adjusted for efficiency and safety. Any booking is conditional on safe and lawful access to the premises and items being ready for handling.

2. Services Included and Customer Obligations

Customer obligations during a moving serviceOur service may include packing, wrapping, loading, transportation, unloading, furniture placement, and reasonable assistance with dismantling or reassembly where agreed in advance. Unless specifically stated in writing, the service does not include electrical disconnection, plumbing work, specialist installation, or hazardous material handling. The customer must ensure that all items not intended for transport are removed or clearly separated before the move begins. Docklands movers are not obliged to search through unidentified boxes, bins, or containers to determine contents.

You must provide safe access to the property and ensure that parking, lifting access, and route planning have been arranged where required. If access is restricted by narrow staircases, lifts, permits, shared corridors, low ceilings, or obstructions, you must inform us in advance. We may refuse to move any item that, in our reasonable opinion, cannot be handled safely or lawfully. The customer must also ensure that pets, children, and unauthorised persons do not interfere with the service operation.

Where packing materials are supplied, they remain our property unless otherwise agreed and may be charged separately. You are responsible for checking that cartons, bags, and containers are securely packed and suitable for transport if you choose to pack items yourself. Movers Docklands services rely on cooperation from the customer to minimise delay and reduce the risk of damage.

3. Payments and Charges

All fees are payable in accordance with the quotation or invoice issued for the booking. Unless otherwise agreed, prices may be based on time, volume, labour, distance, vehicle use, access complexity, and any agreed additional services. If the job extends beyond the original estimate due to circumstances outside our control or due to changes requested by you, we may charge the difference at the applicable rate. Any parking charges, tolls, congestion-related costs, storage charges, or third-party fees reasonably incurred in performing the service may also be added.

We may require a deposit or advance payment to secure the booking. The balance, including any additional charges, is due on completion of the service or at another agreed time stated on the invoice. Movers Docklands reserves the right to suspend, postpone, or refuse to begin work where payment terms are not met, where a deposit has not cleared, or where we reasonably believe that payment may be disputed without good cause.

Payment must be made using the methods we accept at the time of booking. If an invoice is not settled by the due date, we may charge statutory interest and reasonable recovery costs to the extent permitted by law. Any pricing error that is obvious and could reasonably have been recognised as a mistake may be corrected. Quotes are not transferable to other properties, dates, or job specifications unless we agree otherwise in writing.

4. Cancellations, Postponements, and Amendments

If you need to cancel or change a booking, you should notify us as early as possible. Cancellations made within the notice period stated in the quote or booking confirmation may be eligible for a partial refund of any deposit, subject to administration costs already incurred. Where a booking is cancelled at short notice, or when our team is unable to proceed because access is not available, the required information is incomplete, or the property is not ready, we may retain all or part of the deposit to reflect wasted time and reserved capacity.

If you request a postponement, we will make reasonable efforts to rearrange the service, but any new date will be subject to availability and may involve revised pricing. Where we must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, including vehicle breakdown, severe weather, staff unavailability, or events beyond our reasonable control, we will seek to reschedule or refund the affected portion of the service. Movers Docklands removal services are planned carefully, and we may refuse repeated late changes if they materially affect operational efficiency.

You acknowledge that once work has begun, the service may be charged in full or in part even if you decide not to proceed, especially where labour, transport, or materials have already been committed. Any amendment to the booking should be confirmed in writing or through another durable record so that the revised terms are clear. Verbal changes alone may not be sufficient to alter the agreed booking.

5. Liability, Risk, and Insurance

We will exercise reasonable care and skill in providing the service. However, due to the nature of removals, certain risks cannot be entirely eliminated. We are not responsible for loss or damage caused by matters outside our control, including pre-existing defects, inadequate packing by the customer, hidden weaknesses in furniture, unsecured items, or failure to disclose special handling requirements. Customers should take reasonable steps to protect valuable, fragile, irreplaceable, or sentimental items before the move begins.

Our liability for loss or damage, whether arising in contract, negligence, or otherwise, is limited to the extent permitted by law. We shall not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss arising from delays not caused by our breach. Where we are found responsible for damage to an item, our obligation may be limited to repair, replacement, or compensation up to the fair value of the item, subject to any applicable cap set out in the booking confirmation or insurance arrangement.

You must notify us promptly of any alleged damage, shortage, or loss and provide reasonable evidence, including photographs and a description of the affected item. Any claim may be reduced or rejected if the item was not packed appropriately, if access was unsafe, if the item had pre-existing damage, or if we were not given a fair opportunity to inspect the issue. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

6. Waste Regulations and Disposal of Unwanted Items

Waste removal and compliance with regulationsWhere our service includes removal of unwanted items, packaging waste, or other materials, the customer must clearly identify what is to be taken away and what is to remain. We will only transport or dispose of items that are lawful to handle and that do not breach waste, environmental, or safety regulations. Movers Docklands terms require the customer to disclose whether items contain batteries, chemicals, oils, paints, sharps, gas bottles, electrical waste, or other controlled materials before collection.

We reserve the right to refuse any item that we reasonably believe is hazardous, contaminated, improperly packaged, prohibited, or unsuitable for carriage or disposal. The customer is responsible for ensuring that waste is correctly separated and does not include confidential documents, data-bearing devices, or items requiring specialist treatment unless that has been expressly agreed. If we remove waste on your behalf, you accept that it may be transferred to a lawful recycling, reuse, or disposal facility in accordance with applicable UK regulations.

You must not request us to dispose of items in any way that would breach environmental law, duty of care rules, or local authority requirements. If an item is later found to contain prohibited waste or to require specialist handling, you may be liable for additional costs, fines, or remedial charges to the extent caused by your failure to disclose the nature of the item. Compliance with waste regulations is a condition of service.

7. Delays, Force Majeure, and Safety

We are not liable for delay or failure to perform our obligations where the delay or failure arises from events beyond our reasonable control. These may include extreme weather, road closures, accidents, industrial action, civil disruption, public authority intervention, fire, flood, or equipment failure not caused by our negligence. In such cases, we may suspend the service, alter the route, reschedule the job, or take any reasonable steps needed to complete the move safely.

We reserve the right to stop work or refuse to continue if conditions become unsafe or if the customer or any third party behaves in a threatening, abusive, or obstructive manner. If we believe an item is unsafe to carry, poorly packed, or at risk of causing injury or property damage, we may decline to move it. Our team’s safety and the safety of your property are a priority, and all instructions that conflict with safety law, traffic law, or manual handling requirements will be disregarded.

Where a delay is likely to be significant, we will aim to communicate the position as soon as reasonably possible. However, time is not usually of the essence unless expressly stated in writing. Movers Docklands UK services are therefore delivered with a practical degree of flexibility, reflecting the realities of transport and removal work.

8. Data, Records, and Evidence

We may keep records relating to your booking, including contact details, service notes, invoices, inventory information, images, access notes, and correspondence needed to manage the contract and resolve disputes. Such records will be handled in line with applicable data protection laws and retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for business, legal, or insurance purposes. You should retain copies of any inventory, quote, and payment confirmations connected with the booking.

If a dispute arises, the parties should cooperate in good faith to review evidence relevant to the issue. This may include job sheets, time records, photographs, delivery notes, and written messages. Any failure by you to raise concerns promptly may make it harder to investigate a claim fairly. Docklands moving services are best managed through accurate records and timely communication, especially where there are multiple addresses, access limitations, or shared responsibilities.

We may rely on written instructions or confirmations received from you or an authorised person acting on your behalf. If you appoint a third party to manage the booking, you remain responsible for their instructions unless we agree otherwise. All documents and records connected with the service form part of the contractual context.

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

Governing law and final contractual termsThese Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising from them or in connection with them, shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident in another part of the UK, nothing in these terms affects any mandatory protections available under applicable law. However, the contract itself is governed by the law stated here.

The courts of England and Wales shall have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms, subject to any applicable consumer rights or statutory alternatives that may apply. If a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, both parties agree to attempt reasonable negotiation before commencing formal proceedings where appropriate. These terms are intended to be read as a whole, with each section operating alongside the others.

By booking a service with Movers Docklands, you confirm that you have authority to agree to these terms and that you accept them on behalf of yourself and any person or business for whom the service is arranged. Continued use of our service after any update to these terms will be treated as acceptance of the revised version where lawful. Movers Docklands service terms are effective from the date they are published or otherwise provided to you in connection with a booking.
